Special educational needs and disability (SEND)

Short Heath Federation aims to provide all children with a truly inclusive experience that will meet the needs of every child in order that they can achieve their true potential.

We understand every child is unique and may face different barriers to learning and participation.  We aim to support the children in a safe, nurturing environment providing for their specific needs which may be communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health difficulties or sensory and physical needs.

The Federation has an open door policy. We are here to help. We recognise the importance of working in partnership with families and involving them in every step of their child’s journey; we ensure the children are involved in making decisions affecting their future.

We are proud of the specialist provisions available in school for children with SEND needs and are now working to extend and grow these provisions.

Our staff receive regular, high quality, targeted training so that they have the expertise, knowledge and confidence to meet the children’s needs. All children will receive Quality First Teaching. Children with additional needs will receive a personalised curriculum to cater for their specific needs.  We have high expectations for all of our children and strive to enable every child to experience success.

Staff work in close contact with other agencies such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Educational Psychologists to ensure children receive the right support at the right time.
